Global Gene Corp

Founded in 2013, Global Gene Corp (GGC) is a genomics platform company with a vision to democratise healthcare through genomics to positively disrupt outcomes for everyone. The company is creating genomics data and insights in underexplored populations starting in India – solving the lack of genomic data diversity; where 60% of the world’s population comprises less than 5% of genomic data.

GGC has collaborators across the world - the clients (and business development pipeline) are pharmaceuticals, academia, and government institutions. GGC is supported by Sovereign-linked entities such as the Economic Development Board(EDB), Singapore and Invest India. The company is building the R&D centre in the Wellcome Genome Campus in Hinxton, Cambridge UK and has headquarters in Singapore and presence in Boston and India. Regarding campus collaborations, GGC has a strategic partnership with Congenica, and is exploring various initiatives with teams within the Sanger Institute, as well as actively hiring from the talent pool. It launched ggcINDIA, the first genomic beacon for the Indian population in collaboration with EBI-EMBL and GA4GH. Further, the GGC team brings international connectivity and significant business connections given the leadership team’s affiliation with Harvard, PRISM/Duke-NUS Singapore and India; this has been highlighted by the Singapore and Indian delegations that have visited campus for best-practice sharing and exploring collaborations.

The company has been profiled by BBC "The power of a Billion: India's genomic revolution" in June 2017, MIT Technology Review "Taking Genomic Data Global" with precision medicine pioneers in September 2016 and selected as "The Next Big Thing" by Cambridge Network in November 2016, quoted as “Democratising Future of Healthcare”, The Sunday Times in February 2017.

GGC leadership: Sumit S. Jamuar (CEO), Dr. Jonathan Picker (co-CSO), Dr. Saumya S. Jamuar (co-CSO), and Kushagra Sharma (COO), Paul Jones (Chief Commercial Officer), Dr Yaron Turpaz (Chief Data & Technology Officer), Shalendra Porwal (President).
