Overnight a fire was detected on the Wellcome Genome Campus. It was contained within a generator room adjacent to the Sulston building and was detected and brought under control thanks to the quick actions of our security staff and the prompt attendance of the Cambridgeshire Fire Service. Our support teams and engineers from CBRE have moved quickly to ensure all Campus buildings are safe and operational.

Those staff on Campus this morning were delayed in reaching their workspaces as we ensured all areas were safe, but are now able to. For staff attending Campus, the site is open and we are pleased to confirm we are able to continue with our science.

We would like to thank all those that helped to bring the situation under control so promptly and effectively.
